Painting 60x90cm 3D cream
60x90cm 3D cream painting - 1. Material and technique
1. Material and technique
The surface is worked in relief, probably with a thick paste (coating, gesso or oil applied with a knife).
The artist plays with the repetition of gestures: horizontal, vertical, then winding lines.
The color uniformity (white) highlights the tactile and sculptural dimension of the paint. We are almost between painting and bas-relief.
2. Structure and organization
The table is divided into horizontal strips.
Above: flattened rectangular patterns, recalling bricks or cells.
In the center: irregular verticalities like tight columns.
Then a wavy, fluid band, which contrasts with the rigidity of the rest.
Below: regular vertical streaks, almost like stems or folds of fabric.
This organization suggests a search for visual rhythm, such as a silent musical score.
3. Meaning and interpretation
White can symbolize purity, silence, light or infinity.
The repetition of patterns evokes natural elements (waves, bark, cultivated fields seen from the sky) but in total abstraction.
The contrast between rigidity and fluidity perhaps reflects a dialogue between order and chaos, stability and movement.
The lack of color refocus attention to the artist's gesture and raw material.
4. Artistic references
We can bring this style closer to Piero Manzoni (its textured white canvases), or even Jan Schoonhoven, known for its monochrome reliefs.
We also find the spirit of the Zero movement or minimal and concrete art of the 60s, where light, repetition and matter had more than narration.
👉 This painting could be read as a visual meditation on matter, a game between rigor and sensitivity, which encourages to look closely and to feel through the eyes as by touch.
